The California College of the Arts

I’ve been teaching Design Communication since 2014. Here is a collection of demo projects from my class at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, CA.

This project aimed to take on the dreaded “wash out” using parametric surfacing in Solidworks. Definitely overboard for an Intro class. Still my students nailed it and did great in the end.

I teach Intro to Advanced Rhino and Solidworks along with Keyshot for rendering. In this rendering, you see one of the projects from my Advanced Surfacing course using Alias.

Here is a final project in Rhino from DC3 2018. A challenging project and a good depth of field demo also.

Autodesk Alias intro project. Its typical to do wheels when learning Alias, but we don’t do cars are CCA, so I came up with this smoke alarm instead. All the same techniques as a car wheel without the automotive theme.

Top students Justus Cheng, Zhen Chao, and Nick Fenselau on DC3 “Teardown Tuesday” where we take old broken tech, tear it apart and rebuild the guts in Solidworks. Fun!
